If you could ask Jake Song one question... What would it be?

Here's a theoretical situation for all you ArcheAge fans: if you could ask the founder of XLGames any one question about his pet project ArcheAge, what would you choose?

Keep in mind that Mr. Song has participated in quite a few interviews already where a lot of good questions were asked, so you don't want to revisit those same topics.

Think of ArcheAge's races, combat mechanics, monsters, music, geography, politics, graphics, etc. What do you want to know that hasn't already been answered?

Try to be as specific and eloquent as possible when writing your questions. You never know who's going to read them!

EDIT: So far, this is what we've got:

  • Will there be different server types available? (PvP servers with loot on death, PvE servers with PK disabled, etc.)
  • What are the penalties for dying? (Experience, money, debuff, and so on.)
  • How extensive will ArcheAge's character customization be? Extremely detailed like Aion, or less?
  • Is there a possibility that groups can be larger than six people? (Like Alliances in Aion.)
  • Will relationships be available in-game? Marriage, kings and queens, etc.
  • There's lots of food in ArcheAge, but can any of it go bad (rot) and make players sick?
  • Regarding ArcheAge's art style: is it thoroughly medieval or will there be some "steampunk" elements?
  • Are negotiations already underway to determine who will publish ArcheAge in North America and Europe?
  • Jake, how do you get your hair to look so fabulous?

Keep thinking! Get your inactive guildmates to pop in and respond.

Mr Song, will you be including different servers? PvP, RP-PvP, PvE, RP-PvE. Perhaps a full loot or partial loot server to grab the more hardcore groups from darkfall and games like it.

Yes, partial or full loot please. This game is awesome except for the fact it seems to have no penalties for dying. There are PK penalties, which are good, but I don't want to see people rushing from the bind point right after you killed them, endlessly fighting them off for no apparent reason.

Mr. Song,
How do you get your hair to look like it wants to molest me? What products do you use? May I touch it?

I think I'd ask him if they have any plans of some sort of anti-hack protection. Seeing that hacks and cheats ruined one of my favorite games (Lineage II), I'd hate to see another great game going down the same drain.

I don't know if it's up to the developers when it comes to stuff like that, surely it also depends on the publisher, but it feels like it's something the developers would know and do much better. :ermm:

Seeing as my other guildies Enz, and Calren already asked the questions I would, here is another on my mind. How deep is the character customization? Is it like APB's or Aions, or is it like FFXIV or Games similar to that.

ArcheAge already has HackShield integrated, but it's similar to nProtect (and we all know how great that is...right).

Aion and TERA both dropped nProtect for their NA/EU releases and there's still hacking, but there's other ways of detecting it nowadays. :)

LMFAO +1

2 questions...sorry lmao.

I would ask:

Would he consider making groups larger than 6 man?

And would there eventually be some sort of benefit or upper tier (finalization, as in when you make a choice you deal with the choice youve made) achieved by sticking to one class (3 trees) even if it be custom, sacrificing the ability to switch trees, or respec at any time?

- is that negotiations are already underway to determine who will be the Archeage distributor in Europe and the United States?
- Is there going to be an open beta available to the world?

Any forms of relationships available for the players? Like King and Queen or what ever... Also, bosses and such, how will it work?
Let's all pretend there's something really important written here...

Will there be any steampunk aspects featured in the game?

I know AA plans on letting people choose any 3 of 10 classes to have active at one time and that player will have the ability to max out all 10 classes so that they may change which 3 are active at any one time. My question is do you think this will limit player interactions seeing that anyone could play any role? Example:

Say a party is a group of 5 and I have 6 good friends that I play with alot (total of 7 people including myself). We only have 1 tank and 1 healer in our group and they both happen to be offline while the other 5 of us are on. Well instead of having to meet 2 new players we just have 2 people switch to tank and healer. Effectively limiting our need to interact with the community.

Yup, that's pretty much how it goes. Though it will most probably have a leveling system so you will have to level each archetype for it to be effective.

Updated the first post. I think I'll cap the questions at ten, then send them off. Might not get a response for a while, but if we do it'll be front-page news.

I know that is how it is planned. I just want to know if they've taken into consideration the fact that it will limit player interactions.

Only in certain circumstances. On the other hand, when you're trying to sink someone's ship, are you sure you want to bring someone along that you don't already know? ;)

I understand your concern, though. I'll try to think of a good way to phrase your question.

Thank you. And yes I tried to ask without giving an example but people seemed to think that the part that said, "we are going to have 10 classes and 3 of them active at any one time and that we can change which 3 are active" was a question when in fact i was stating that as a preface to my question. Hmmm....

Maybe: Do you think that letting players max out all 10 classes and change (for a fee) which 3 are your "active como" will limit player interactions because it lets any player fill any role, leaving out the need to seek out new friends to fill a role in your "regular" party?

Mehh...
