Time for some big decisions, ArcheAge fans! There's a lot of changes planned for ArcheAge-Online.com and we want your input on some topics, so let's dive right in!

First off, we're planning on migrating the front page (ArcheAge-Online.com) away from Tumblr to another software system that is locally hosted so that we're not subject to Tumblr's server problems. This past week has been pretty crazy and we think it's time we moved on. Tumblr is an awesome service, but we've outgrown it.

We're considering upgrading to another blogging platform, such as Wordpress or MoveableType. Perhaps we might even just have these forums power the entire website, who knows? If you've got an opinion about this topic, please leave a comment below! This is a very important step for us and we want you to be involved. :turned:

Second, we're contemplating a name change for the forums (the front page will remain unchanged). "The ArcheAge Online Community" is a bit long to type and so is the domain name! What do you think of ArcheAgeFans.com? Don't go trying to register it...we already did!

We're open to better ideas, of course. If you think your domain name is too awesome to post in this thread, send me a private message! Don't want us to change the name at all? Then please respond to this thread!

Third, regardless of whether or not the forum's name is changed, it will be receiving a redesign someday. We thought we'd let you guys know before we suddenly changed anything. Of course, we'll probably leave the current skin (Mystic) available for selection in case you don't like the new design!

Fourth, those questions you helped compile earlier this week for Jake Song have been emailed off. Congratulation on making yourselves heard in S. Korea!

archagefans sounds second rate. any other game that has 'fans' at the end of the game's title has never gathered attention for any other game. even though i wouldn't choose something like archeageforums, the simplicity and official sounding has more appeal to me. maybe 'source' or 'nexus' or something that refers to the word hub...

regardless, it has to sound more official to get the masses' attention.

I'd not create/keep a different site/domain for the forums. In my experience the more simple is the more efficient, when it comes to webpages made for promoting online communities. I'd put the forums under a "Community", "Social", or "Forum" tab on the main website and use community.archeage.com(social.archeage.com) or/and archeage.com/community. Using a different domain is just confusing, it's better to have all information and resources together.
If you're planning to release more games in the future and want to build a community around your company(like BioWare), that's a different story.
Another important thing is finding(creating) the appropiate logo for your game, the current ArcheAge title with it's exotic font is not enough. A cool logo makes the game look like a brand and makes your marketing stronger.

I'd also leave fansites to take over domains, like ArcheAgeFans.com. Supporting fansites are a good way to start your viral marketing

juggernaut, this IS a fansite. not every game has official forums so fansites can become the defacto hub for the game's players to gather. right now, the 'guru' sites are the most successful fansites. i doubt he could use the term as it may be a copyright violation as Curse gaming seems to own the 'guru' brand.

so the challenge is to come up with something that appeals to the masses. i think it's safe to say that the goal is to have this website as the defacto english archage forums

ps. please avoid AA as it's being used by other games... not to mention the infamous recovery program.

Exactly. Additionally, Curse owns no copyright for "Guru" in domain names. ;)

I will be honest, I thought this was an OFFICIAL site for Archage, I did not realize that it was a fan made community site, the main reason for this being the domain name, the second you put fan or anything like fan in the domain name you will switch a lot of people off, as most people would rather get information directly from the source.

IS there a reason for a domain change ? Archage-Online seems perfect to me, by all means change the name of the link to Forums or Community but I would not change the domain name unless I really had to.

Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad we look professional enough to attract such discerning users! Stick around while we improve things and one day this forum might just become the official one.

i really, really doubt the game will have official forums. so i'm hoping that this will take off

keep the name or change it to:

archageonline
archageguru

i can't think of anything else other then those three that will do the job

Looks like "ArcheAgeGuru" is popular! That' great! Thanks for the suggestions, everybody! Choosing fans or guru will be the point of a poll in the future!

Also, thank you for your vote of confidence in ArcheAge-Online.com, crusader.

ArcheAge-Source/AASource...

I do find IPBoard a bit wanting when it comes to powering a whole website but... since you've started with it, it'll be a shame to change it (Big fan of SMF2, btw)
From experience you will need a complete solution since just adding different software together usually ends up making the site too much of a hassle.

Might get around to installing IPsuite on my server to check out what can be done, though, best bet... ask some freelancer over at IPB forums to make something for ya, might find the result interesting.

All in for a new theme, here, or some minor alterations with the current one!
Let's all pretend there's something really important written here...
