The question is "how the targeting will work with a submarine":

  1. select target with tab and fire the torpedo
  2. select the direction/area where to fire the torpedo (like with the cannon)

And the next question "what will be the speed of the torpedo".

 

If 2) with slow torpedo, thats going to be very fun, "someone on the board of the ship notices a torpedo and yells, the captain starts to steer the ship to escape being hit".

That's all fine n dandy but the DMG increases based on distance and from all the videos and pictures I've seen. the ocean doesn't have transparency. (Real life oceans dont either so its realistic.)

How would you see the torpedoes, how will you buff ships to fight back? Do torps do more DMG than cannons?

I'm still inclined to believe torpedoes are a game breaking mechanic at the moment since it hasnt been mass tested yet. I like the idea of subs. just don't like the idea of torps.

Someone should post an in depth analysis on submarine warfare.

They shouldn't be as powerful as canon fire, but powerful enough that they cannot be ignored in combat.

You would have to have your own men/subs under water to see the torpedos coming and to fight back.  Personally I think it just adds another dimension to the combat system and makes things more interesting.  As long as it is balanced decently it should be cool.

It's not balanced at all if you can't fight back on a ship.

Sure if it's surfaced that's one thing but if it can hit you underwater and if it can move at the same speed as a ship than a submarine is vastly superior and game balance has been broken.

If my only resort to fight back is to go collect 100 premium currency then spend 2 days building a ship for a fight that happened 3 days prior that's not balanced at all. if I have to physically deploy a submarine and get into it and attack the other submarine underwater that is so far from balanced. It actually makes galleons useless in the long run because guilds will just mass build SUBs.

I mean I can see it now. 30 submarines lined up under a heavy traffic point and basically have an alpha volley strong enough to blow up a merchant ship. there is no defending your packs because they'll be on the ocean floor before you realize what's happening. all a pirate guild has to do is have a group of people move the cargo while fighting you.

The potential for broken game balance is so great it's not even funny.

I wanna know everything about the torpedoes and how they work.

I Think you understood my point tho lol. It'll still take a days worth of material farming to build it, or your wallet is gonna get lighter.

Yes but when you have a black pearl that won't be an issue for you~. Also keep in mind that the submarine is technically a mount which means it can probably be destroyed very easily and you can also kick players out of it!

In the middle of it you can find an entrance to an instanced challenge looking like that temple. You have to fight vs Futas/Hutas and it seems that they will be coming in big waves!
