I've been messing with builds and what not for awhile with skill calculators and was hoping to see what retail players thought.

I hear a ton about grim reaper/ angel of death being "over powered" and what not. I was wondering why people thought this?

But my main build I've been looking at is magic/illusion/death to build an all out mage, what do people think of this?

I feel like the skills can complement each other a lot.

Any class can be considered as op at least when you have calling with them since the base damage in the game is so high. With hide you can just pick up your fights.

So basically putting calling in any build is best for dps?

Not for dps. If you by dps mean damagedealer then sure it goes with pretty much everything.

Calling is just in general a very useful tree for pvp but its definitely not a must.

To the OP, your magical build is called a DarkWeaver and the tree build I'd be going for myself for my magic user. Hopefully powerful enough not to worry about the low HP usually tagged with Magic casters.

I've been looking into magic/death/illusion combo too, but as a mage class there is not much avoidance for survivability. Has anyone tested magic/death/artistry or devotion? I rather have heals than able to go stealthy, also more useful in bugger fights

Well I plan on using that build in a lot of group combat, but it also has a lot of stun or root like abilities

that I'm hoping will make up for it. I'm just trying to find out what people who play KR retail feel is a good damage

dealing capabilities.

I'm pretty sure it would be viable for group fights. I'd love to hear how DarkWeaver fare as far as solo PvE. Maybe even PvP.

Guys I noticed that when you're assigned a class your stats change, e.g.

according to the class sheet  a Grim Reaper (Death / Magic / Calling) has 10 magic attack, where a Cleric ( Magic / Devotion / Calling) has 8 Magic Attack....

My question is, how much do these attributes affect damage? Will a cleric be able to do similar damage to a grim reaper? Or do you have to drop the devotion heals if you want really high damage?

I guess my question is, what do those starting stats do exactly? Does anyone know :)

Hello nomaq. From my data gathering, stats do -NOT- change according to class directly. I've leveled about 5 characters with various class combinations and their attributes all leveled up the same (by 2 per level).

However, I believe your choice of passive skills can slightly affect certain stats. Perhaps, you chose a certain passive ability for your Grim Reaper that you didn't or couldn't for your Cleric......

Basically, your choice of items is the real power for customizing stats as far as I can tell!

Hope this helps!!
