Aion was handled by newest, they were bullahitting people from the moment they announced the game, hell even the staff bios they released were proven to be fake.

TERA was badly handled from the start and the staff were too busy being "innovative" than making sure their game works, in Korea it got ruined just a few days after it went live.

Archeage has the advantage because the developer has proven himself hen je was restricted on the game content whereas now he is free to make the game he wants.
Let's all pretend there's something really important written here...

The problem is not how the games are handled. The problem is that all are copying the WoW gameplay.

Cavarath has a point.

This game could be amazing. But history would dictate that a game with potential usually fails to achieve it.

Exhibit A. TERA had such an innovate combat system, but too bad the game looks so boring and is so WoW-y. (Not that I've played it, but just from following it, that's how it seems).

There is no WoW gameplay to copy, WoW it self copies every game released. They took a bit of this, a bit of that and created vanilla WoW.

Then at some point WAR comes along... and they copied that too, it really is a simple process. Why play game X when WoW combines games X, Y and Z?

Games usually fail for two reasons, either they come separately or combined. The community isn't mature enough to handle a "baby" mmo and the company that handles or develops the game aren't really after making a good game but just want some quick money. If it's the later then you generally see them try to overhype the game trying to attract as many people as possible.
What's interesting with XLGAMES is that apparently they aren't trying to hype people, instead they work the way they want and try to make a game that represents them. You can see that in the answers they give when asked about it.

Indeed. +1. I'm always trying to express the same shit. Normally get into arguments with people using the same old narrow minded reasoning abilities on both sides of the fence. It gets tired...Id be the first guy to call a game out on its casual nature or WoWesque traits and vice versa...but thats simply nowhere near being the case yet with AA...

Hahaha for sure...But hey its true, most newer games do make themselves quite similar to WoW in appearance and difficulty ( or lack there of xD).

Exactly how I see it B) .

@gifthorse, TERA isn't WOW-y to me. Unless people are now using WOW as a synonym for "themepark". A lot of people are calling the basic "themepark" elements WOW cloned. A lot of those people probably never tried theme games before WOW, so they call everything a WOW clone, when really their just not "sandbox".

Agree that a lot of the new games are. Most theme F2p games are definitely trying their best to clone. P2P games also, KOTOR, WAR, etc.....As @Eligor has stated, but others seem like basic Everquest, which is basic blueprint theme...Don't hear a lot of people saying Everquest clones anymore....They used to...WOW is getting too much credit, in my opinion.

What I don't understand is how people can come to the conclusion that anything that's in the same genre as WoW, is a WoW clone. Sure it looks like it, but do we call every car/truck a Model T clone? Do we call Apple a Pc Clone? Honestly, I think some humans are too small minded for MMO's. There should be some sort of test to play any MMO.
