Thread is kept open to promote discussion but if more people want it closed and probably start a new one, just say so. Also it will be closed if this get's out of hand, again... Now, do play nice cause I have tons of work to do to monitor forums every half an hour because people wanna throw nails at eachother and stab themselves and fellow forum members.

You must hate this job.

Agreed.
Micro transaction based games often cost more than a subscription model.
I don't see the need for Archeage to be buy to play like Guild Wars, if the game is good then I will quite happily spend $20 a month or whatever it is on a subscription (it really isn't that much, unless you dont have a job).

Right now there are a couple ways the industry could go at this point.

Right now they are:

1) Buy to Play + Pay to Play + Cosmetic Cash Shop(Like WoW and soon The Secret World)

2) Buy to Play + Cosmetic Cash Shop (Like Guild Wars 2)

3) Free to Play + Pay to Win Cash Shop (like just about every F2P mmorpg ever made)

To me the 2nd option seems like the most honest of the 3. As an ex-employee of a company that made one of the games I mentioned in this post I KNOW we were ripping people off. When you think about it we were selling customers expansions to the game but didn't even have all of the content available until we patched it in. If you're paying a monthly sub shouldn't you just get that content? If you pay your bill for HBO do you have to pay more every time Game of Thrones (or what ever you might like) has a new season? The amount of money this company makes in a year makes the cost of development, maintenance, and payroll look like chump change.

While I agree with most of it, I see a few problems here. For one, just because it's P2P doesn't mean kiddies wont be playing. There are plenty of middle class white people who can afford to pay for a monthly subscription for their kids. Also, "in-game boost shops" don't automatically ruin a game. It's a matter of opinion. It's just poor people whining.

As for free to play, more biased nonsense.

I agree with the customization shop though. That would be the best way to implement it.

F2P arguments are not based nonsense untill prooved that they are so.

And In game boost shops isn't a matter of money to use it; It ruins a game in the way that there is a ORDER, PREDEFINED WAYS to do what has to be discovered by players, A CHAIN OF FACTS THAT HAS TO BE DISCOVERED to enhance the gameplay experience, Having a in game boost gives you the oportunity to FUCK UP all those steps and directly go to a GAMEPLAY LEVEL totaly different where the player is lost and ruins the game. (i.e. : Its like having a level 1337 weapon when you're only level 10; there is much to see between those 2 levels)

Furthermore, Be respectfull, carefull of what you say and how you say it, I suppose we all want an stable and happy enviroment in this game
