I've been thinking over the custom classes a lot now, and I'm trying to project the most rare combos? You know odd utility hybrids that you just won't see, any suggestions?
In a land that promotes free-choice, I think I'd want to be as unique as possible.
From what I understand:
1) Magic dps is the most common
2) Range dps
3) Melee dps
4) Tank
5) utility Buffer
6) utility healer
7) ? (least common?) Hybrid healer? or Magic-Melee Debuff
Thoughts? I find hybrids sorta appealing to play.

The Elves had a prophecy about the expedition to the land of origins, which they termed "Ishtari".

If you choose the worst combination you will be unique.

Life is half spent before we know what it is.

I'm thinking IWL - Illusion/Will/Love - the "Gatekeeper", to be an early favorite for most rare custom class

If a combination is rare, it's because it's hard to play and possibly useless. Let's face it, not all combinations will be good or useful. If you pick one from melee, one from range, one from magic then there's nothing you will be good at.
Let's all pretend there's something really important written here...

I'm curious if there are any schools/abilities that really suffer from plate armor. As far as I know, you can wear any armor you like but the heavier it gets, the bigger the penalty in a certain department. Is there any info available whats keeping me from creating a fireball throwing platemage with healing spells?
I know, if I stick with three 'opposing' schools, I will not be superb in any of them but min/maxing isn't the solution in every free form environment. In fact, using flexible class builds is something that is fairly common in sandbox-type environments. And all the maxed out dps builds won't help you when you can't get past your enemies' controlling/defensive abilities.
To be honest, I'd even like to think that min/maxed builds (e.g. full healer, full melee, full dps, full controller/debuffer) won't be very common. The full healing specs may be not as rare as the rest, but limiting yourself to one niche and abandoning all the other tools, the game has to offer may be not a very good trade off. Pure speculation though.

The combos are very dependent on what "state" your opponent is in. Certain skills put your opponent in a special state (stunned, paralyzed, etc.). Some skill also let you build up "charge" that can improve some skill effects.
If you're specifically looking for uncommon builds you can do that with a new feature they've put on the official beta website: http://beta.archeage.com/jobs
This page list the top players from each of the class combinations (you'll notice that there aren't any players for some of them). Unfortunately it's all in korean so you'll have to translate the class names to find out what they are.

No, but some classes just go together. Like offensive mage and healing. Those both benefit from the same equipment, so it would be very unwise to go offensive mage and tank the same time because of your equipment.
I was watching Steparu Stream and that his friend Yukey is combined nuker and healer, and that character was just very powerful. Very strong AOE nukes and it could heal as well. Compared to him/her, Steparu and his all out tank was just completely useless...

As well, from looking at the 2 skill trees published here so far, it is apparent that some trees feed off of each other. ie. Devotion skills that consume and benefit from Will charges.
So some skill combinations seem to be natural partners.
